A driver of a black Ford Mustang Mach-E struggled to charge at a Tesla Supercharger in Midvale, Utah, ultimately occupying two spots and leaving the vehicle unattended. The incident, shared by eyewitness Brian Harlig, highlighted frustrations at the busy eight-unit station. Other drivers left notes on the car expressing their annoyance.
Brian Harlig, a Tesla owner charging his Model Y at a small Supercharger station in Midvale near Salt Lake City, witnessed the incident on an unspecified recent date. The station, with only eight units, was fully occupied and busy, with people waiting to charge.
A woman arrived quickly in a black Ford Mustang Mach-E and pulled into a spot. She discovered the Tesla cord would not reach her vehicle's charging port, located on the rear driver's side. Frustrated, she maneuvered the car back and forth three times before positioning it to use an adapter.
Harlig offered assistance from his adjacent spot, but the driver replied, 'I'm able to do things myself.' She then removed the adapter, plugged the Tesla cord into it, and inserted the assembly into her port. The vehicle began charging.
Shortly after, a man arrived in a BMW, picked up the driver, and they departed, leaving the Mach-E unattended and occupying two Supercharger spots. This blocked access for waiting drivers.
Harlig left a note on the driver's side window. Another person placed a large note on the windshield, using strong language including the 'C word' to express anger over the behavior.
Harlig shared photos and his account on the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y Owners Club Facebook page, describing it as unprecedented rude and inconsiderate conduct at the station.
