Sweden's former foreign minister Margaretha af Ugglas has died at the age of 87. She passed away on May 10, according to reports from Expressen.
Margaretha af Ugglas served as foreign minister in the bourgeois government between 1991 and 1994. She was later elected leader of the first Moderate Party group in the European Parliament.
She began her career as an economist and journalist, including as an editorial writer at Svenska Dagbladet. She later entered politics and served in Parliament from 1974 to 1995.
Af Ugglas was the sister of businessman Jan Stenbeck and held board positions at companies such as Kinnevik and Swedish Match. She started her political career in Stockholm County Council.
