The funeral mass for 18-year-old Ateneo basketball player Rene Clert Baterbonia took place on Wednesday morning at the Talacogon municipal gymnasium.
Baterbonia drowned on June 8 during a team-building activity in Aurora along with Divine Adili. His wake had been held at the same gymnasium since his remains arrived on June 16.
He became the first person laid to rest at the new Talacogon municipal memorial park. The municipal government declared June 8 as Rene Clert Baterbonia Day.
Mourners on the final day of the wake included his Ateneo de Davao coach and teammates along with PBA players Scottie Thompson and Nards Pinto and actress Sofia Andres.
