Galán extends TransMilenio hours for Halloween and Day of the Dead

Bogotá's mayor, Carlos Fernando Galán, announced that TransMilenio hours will extend until midnight on Friday, October 31, and Saturday, November 1, 2025. The measure aims to facilitate transport for those celebrating Halloween and the Day of the Dead. Restrictions on motorcycles remain in place during the holiday bridge.

Bogotá's mayor, Carlos Fernando Galán, announced via his X account that TransMilenio's schedule will be adjusted for Friday, October 31, and Saturday, November 1, 2025. The service will run until midnight, and this extension will also apply to all trunk routes connecting to the transport system.

The announcement addresses the Halloween and Day of the Dead festivities, aiming to ease transportation for residents heading out to celebrate during the long weekend. Galán highlighted the importance of these steps to enhance mobility.

Recently, the District imposed restrictions on motorcycle drivers during the Halloween bridge. One prohibits riding with a passenger on motorcycles within the city, from 00:00 on Thursday, October 30, until 11:59 p.m. on Monday, November 3, 2025. The second limits all motorcycles' movement from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. during the same dates on Bogotá's main avenues.

These measures have not been well-received by all citizens who rely on motorcycles for commuting. Nevertheless, Galán defended them, stating they aim to prevent illegal races and reduce traffic accidents. The mayor asserted that the festivity has caused tragedies in previous years and that these restrictions will help lower fatalities and road incidents.
