Government approves 6.5 billion kronor investment for Kristinehamn regiment

The government has decided on an investment of up to approximately 6.5 billion kronor for the new construction of Bergslagens Artilleriregemente A9 in Kristinehamn.

The decision was announced in a government press release on 23 July 2026. Already in December 2020, the Riksdag had decided to re-establish A9 in Kristinehamn after its closure in 2000.

In April 2026, Fortifikationsverket requested the government's approval for investment in land infrastructure and new construction of the entire new regiment. The activity is under development.

Construction will start successively during 2027–2030. Until the new construction on the permanent site in Kristinehamn is ready, activities will take place in temporary premises in the area.
