Greuther Fürth secures place in 2. Bundesliga

SpVgg Greuther Fürth won the relegation playoff return leg against Rot-Weiss Essen 2-0 and stays in the 2. Bundesliga.

After the 0-1 defeat in the first leg, Fürth won 2-0 at home. Noel Futkeu scored in the 29th minute and Branimir Hrgota in the 47th minute.

Essen missed several big chances, including a header by Torben Müsel in the 81st minute in front of an empty goal. A goal by Jaka Cuber Potocnik was disallowed for offside.

Fürth's Felix Klaus said after the match: "It feels like a huge weight has been lifted. It is indescribable." Essen's coach Uwe Koschinat expressed disappointment over the missed opportunities.
