Historical Hovnäs ferry runs without interruptions this summer

The over 100-year-old ferry across Dalälven has so far operated without stops despite low water levels.

Each season around 15 000 transports are made with the Hovnäs ferry between Hovnäs in Avesta municipality and Botebo in Sala municipality. The line is on-call and operates from April to October.

The interest organisation Trelänsleden runs the operations. Chair Anna-Karin Thorén states that the ferry is important for tourists, summer cottage owners and commuters.

Ferry driver Anne-Charlotte Wennström says the vessel stood still for longer periods in previous summers. This year operations have worked better with only one day of issues last week.
