Ivar Stenberg has emerged as Sweden's top ice hockey talent ahead of the NHL draft. The player from Stenungsund overcame early physical disadvantages through skill and determination.
Ivar Stenberg grew up in Stenungsund alongside his older brother Otto. While Otto stood out for his size and physical presence, Ivar remained smaller than his peers and entered puberty later than most.
His youth coach Dennis Kembel highlighted Stenberg's unique qualities. "Det som är unikt med Ivar är att många av spelarna som är bra när de är små är stora till växten," Kembel said. "Ändå har jag aldrig sett någon tackla honom, för det går inte att träffa honom."
The brothers share a strong competitive streak. Kembel noted that both possess exceptional game understanding, with Otto showing leadership traits and Ivar displaying star quality as a match winner. The pair could potentially face each other in the NHL next season.
