Jess Williamson has announced her new album, A Mile South of Heaven, scheduled for release on October 9 via New West. The project serves as the follow-up to her 2023 LP Time Ain’t Accidental.
The Texan singer-songwriter recorded the album with producer Shooter Jennings at Sunset Sound in Hollywood. Lead single “Goodbye to All That” features an accompanying mini road movie video.
Williamson drew the song title from a Joan Didion essay in Slouching Towards Bethlehem. She described the track as inspired by her time in Los Angeles, noting that it initially reflected plans to leave but ultimately shifted her perspective.
She added that the album title conveys a sense of being close to personal goals without reaching an endpoint. The full tracklist includes 12 songs such as High Heels and Blue Jeans, Country Mile, and The Gem and Mineral Show.
