Jorge Carrascal recalled to Colombian national team

Midfielder Jorge Carrascal has been recalled to the Colombian national team amid a strong run with Flamengo. The Brazilian club faces crucial matches in the Brazilian League and prepares for the Copa Libertadores final. Coach Filipe Luis voiced concerns over the absences of key players, including Carrascal.

Jorge Carrascal, Flamengo's midfielder, has been recalled to the Colombian national team during a FIFA international window. The call-up comes as the player recovers from an injury and has scored a notable goal for his club, solidifying his role with the national side.

Flamengo sits second in the Brazilian League, tied on points with Palmeiras, and must tackle tough matches against Sport Recife and Fluminense. Carrascal's absence, along with those of other internationals like Danilo, Alex Sandro, Giorgian de Arrascaeta, Gonzalo Plata, Matías Viña, and Guillermo Varela, poses challenges for the team. The Copa Libertadores final is set for November 29, providing time for adjustments, but coach Filipe Luis regrets the limited preparation.

"We need time to train, unfortunately many players will be called up by their national teams and cannot participate in the sessions. I've noticed the team gets disorganized and accelerates the pace excessively, especially in the first half of matches," Filipe Luis stated after the win against Santos.

Despite the absences, Flamengo relies on its bench players to stay competitive in the domestic league and contend for titles. Carrascal's summons highlights the tensions between clubs and national teams during international breaks.
