Junaeb starts early photo campaign for higher education TNE

The National Board of Aid and Scholarships (Junaeb) has launched the “Hazla corta, tómate la foto hoy” campaign so that over 200,000 new higher education students can take their photo for the National Student Card (TNE). This process can be done digitally via an app, avoiding last-minute rushes. Junaeb's national director, Camila Rubio, stressed the need to complete it in advance.

Junaeb's campaign aims to streamline the process for students beginning their higher education journey this year. Through an app available on the institution's website, users can capture their photo using the front or rear camera of their devices. The tool features biometric technology and artificial intelligence to guide framing, enhance lighting, and detect issues like sunglasses or hats.

Prior to starting, students must have paid the $2,700 fee upon enrolling in their institution. A valid identity card is required, with its image used to automatically load personal data. A validation code is then sent to the email for identity and photo confirmation.

Junaeb's national director, Camila Rubio Araya, stated: “With this app, students can complete this step without needing to visit our service points. That's why we urge them to do it in time and not leave it to the last minute.”

For those preferring in-person service, Junaeb provides 41 offices nationwide and mobile points at educational institutions. Additionally, on January 5 and 6, special booths will be available at the Higher Education Application and Enrollment Fair, held at Centro Cultural Estación Mapocho in Santiago and Centro de Eventos Sur Activo in Concepción.

This early initiative addresses the need to expedite procedures for a smooth university entry, aiding thousands of young people across Chile.
