Kalle Östman signs one-year contract with Vaasa Sport

Swedish center Kalle Östman has agreed to a one-year deal with Finnish Liiga club Vaasa Sport. The 32-year-old leaves Leksand after four seasons in the SHL. It marks his first move abroad.

Östman played 41 games for Leksand last season and recorded six goals and five assists. He will not join the team in HockeyAllsvenskan after its relegation.

Vaasa Sport head coach Lauri Mikkola praised the new signing. “Kalle Östman is a very skilled two-way center who is involved in the game all the time,” Mikkola said. “His greatest strength is that he never has any rest periods during matches.”

Östman spent the past seven SHL seasons with Djurgården, Malmö and Leksand. He previously appeared in HockeyAllsvenskan for Västerås, Västervik and Pantern.
