Kcaa appoints Nicholas Bodo acting director general

The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority has appointed Nicholas Bodo as acting Director General immediately after Emile Arao's contract ended. Arao's tenure concluded on April 22, 2026. Bodo will serve interim while a permanent replacement is recruited.

The KCAA Board of Directors announced a leadership transition within the authority. In a public notice issued on April 23, it stated, "The Board of Directors of the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority wishes to inform stakeholders and the public of a leadership transition within the Authority."

Emile Arao's employment contract ended on April 22, 2026, after a three-year term since his April 2022 appointment replacing Captain Gilbert Kibe. The authority described his period as one of "meaningful contribution" to civil aviation in Kenya.

Nicholas Bodo, a Senior Deputy Director at the Ministry of Transport, takes the interim role to ensure operational continuity. The board is consulting the parent ministry and will recruit a substantive Director General through a "transparent and competitive" process. KCAA assured stakeholders that it remains fully operational, committed to safe, secure, and efficient civil aviation services, with no interruption to service delivery.
