Kentucky mother charged with assault over candy bar incident

A 42-year-old woman in Louisville has been charged after allegedly striking her 6-year-old daughter at a convenience store. The incident occurred because the child ate a candy bar without paying first.

Noella Uwimana faces counts of first-degree assault related to domestic violence and first-degree criminal abuse of a child. Police say the events unfolded on Saturday at a Thorntons store on South 7th Street in Louisville, Kentucky. Uwimana is being held in the Jefferson County Jail following her arraignment on Monday.
