Librería café Pombo becomes largest literary venue in Colombian Caribbean

The Librería Café de Pombo in Santa Marta has opened its new space, becoming the largest literary venue in the Colombian Caribbean. This cultural center provides a peaceful retreat for readers, away from daily hustle. The project stems from a partnership between Universidad del Magdalena and Fundación Gaifas & Nena Pombo.

In Santa Marta, the Librería Café de Pombo has reached a milestone by transforming into the largest space dedicated to literature in the Colombian Caribbean. Spanning 700 square meters, the venue houses 22,000 carefully selected volumes, featuring the best of national and international literature.

The design emphasizes creating a serene atmosphere where people can immerse themselves in reading and escape daily routines. "The bookstore is conceived as a cultural center where people can enjoy a peaceful afternoon," the project description highlights.

This initiative not only expands options for book lovers in the region but also strengthens the local cultural fabric. The agreement between Universidad del Magdalena and Fundación Gaifas & Nena Pombo has been pivotal in its development, promoting access to culture in an accessible and welcoming format.

While selling books remains a persistent challenge, this space aims to overcome hurdles by blending commerce with enriching experiences, inviting the community to rediscover the joy of reading in a modern, spacious setting.
