Lizzo has released “Don’t Make Me Love U,” her first new song of 2026, paired with a music video. The video shows the artist confronting her Cuz I Love You-era self, leading to emotional moments.
Lizzo shared the single “Don’t Make Me Love U” along with its music video, marking her first release this year. In the video, she comes face to face with a version of herself from the Cuz I Love You era, resulting in significant emotions between the two figures depicted as the star's past and present selves. The clip is available online for viewing. This comes after her most recent album, Special, released in 2023. Following that, Lizzo was sued by former workers who alleged sexual harassment and a hostile workplace environment. In 2025, she put out singles “Love in Real Life” and “Still Down Bad,” and announced a forthcoming album titled Love in Real Life, which lacks a confirmed release date. She has not released a new album in three years. Beyond music, Lizzo was cast in 2025 as Sister Rosetta Tharpe in an upcoming biopic, which she is co-producing with Forest Whitaker. She is also set to publish her first children’s book in September, telling the story of a girl who befriends a flute.
