Man charged with kidnapping woman at knifepoint in Pennsylvania

A woman taking out her trash was robbed and kidnapped at knifepoint by a man who forced her to drive him to multiple locations, authorities say. Michael Charles Gordon, 33, faces 17 charges including kidnapping and robbery.

On Friday at 10 p.m., the woman was outside her home on the 700 block of Bethlehem Pike in Erdenheim, Pennsylvania, when Gordon approached her, police said. He allegedly threatened her with a knife while she searched her car for money, then forced her into her apartment to take cash and an ATM card.

Gordon made the woman drive to a nearby Santander Bank ATM and later to Philadelphia to buy drugs, according to the Springfield Township Police Department. He also directed her to his parked car, which had been towed, before finally exiting the vehicle after about two hours.

The woman reported the incident on Monday with help from a victim advocate. Gordon was arrested on Tuesday and is being held without bail in Montgomery County Prison. He was out on bail awaiting sentencing for prior robberies when the incident occurred.

Gordon is scheduled to return to court on June 23.
