Next Kratos God of War game to follow events of Laufey

Santa Monica Studio creative director Cory Barlog confirmed that the next mainline God of War title starring Kratos will continue directly from God of War Laufey. The statements came during a panel at San Diego Comic-Con.

Barlog explained that work on the Faye-led game serves as setup for future entries. "Everything we are doing in the Faye game is a continuation of what came before and to set up and expand what comes next," he said.

God of War Laufey is scheduled to release on 16 February 2027. The announcement occurred the previous day at the convention, where actress Deborah Ann Woll also addressed fan reactions to the reveal.

Barlog noted ongoing plans for Kratos stories across the series history. Sony has ruled out a PC release for the new title under its current policy on non-live-service games.
