Therese Søhol Henriksen announced the sale of her trusted partner, the Zangersheide stallion Santos Z, to the US. The 14-year-old horse, described by Henriksen as her "one in a million," has been with her since 2019, during which time she developed him through various levels of competition.
Their partnership began yielding international results in 2021, with appearances at the CSIO5* Nations Cup in Sopot, Poland, in June, and the World Cup leg in Oslo that October. Last year, they represented Norway at high-profile events, including the Longines League of Nations in Rotterdam, the European Showjumping Championships in La Coruna, Spain—where they contributed to the team's 11th-place finish—and the CSIO4* Nations Cup Final in Avenches.
In a heartfelt statement, Henriksen reflected on their journey: "My precious Santos Z, my one in a million. After nearly seven years together it’s time for your new adventures overseas." She emphasized the memories beyond achievements, noting, "So many unforgettable memories together, and I’m endlessly grateful for everything you have given me and my team. From my first Europeans and World Cups to countless double clears in Nations Cups, the places you took me and the experiences we shared will stay with me forever."
Henriksen praised Santos Z's character, saying, "But more than the results, I will always cherish your kindness, your cuddles and your beautiful soul and heart. Your bright, beautiful eyes are deeply missed in the stable." She added that the horse provided her with "confidence, joy and memories I will carry with me forever," and expressed hope for his future: "I’m sure your new family will love you and take wonderful care of you, just as you deserve. Thank you for being exactly who you are. You will always have a very special place in my heart."
This transition marks the end of an era for Henriksen, who debuted at championships with Santos Z last summer.
