Senior NTA officials told a parliamentary committee that the NEET-UG exam was cancelled because its credibility had been impacted. The remarks came during a meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Education, Women, Children, Youth and Sports on Thursday.
Senior officials from the National Testing Agency informed the panel, headed by Congress MP Digvijaya Singh, that the examination had to be cancelled after its credibility was affected. The committee also heard from Education Ministry officials and NTA Director General Abhishek Singh and Chairperson Pradeep Kumar Joshi.
Opposition members questioned the alleged intelligence failure and called for senior NTA officials to take moral responsibility. BJP members suggested describing the incident as the exam being compromised rather than a direct paper leak.
The panel directed the NTA to provide more detailed explanations on the matter. Officials stated that steps are being taken to ensure the re-examination is conducted flawlessly. Education Ministry representatives described the incident as unfortunate.
