Lawmakers from the PS, PC and FA announced they will respond with a constitutional accusation against Finance Minister Jorge Quiroz if the ruling coalition proceeds with the case against former minister Nicolás Grau.

On Tuesday, June 23 the review commission will vote on the preliminary report regarding the accusation against Grau. Left-wing lawmakers maintain there are sufficient grounds to accuse Quiroz over measures that affect the population.

Socialist deputy Juan Santana stated that lawmakers have used oversight powers and will resort to constitutional tools if necessary. FA caucus leader Gael Yeomans warned she will apply the same standard to the current minister.

Biminister Claudio Alvarado called for rigor in the evidence and rejected turning actions into revenge. Grau’s defense argued before the commission that the indictment fails to identify any infringed legal rule.

Cosa dice la gente

Users point to perceived hypocrisy in using invalid arguments for threats against Quiroz. Others note Quiroz's comments on economic projections weaken the case against Grau. Reactions criticize the move as political show or corporate defense by the left, with some calling it desperate retaliation.
