The Allsvenskan season kicked off amid storm and chaos as Örgryte IS drew 1–1 with Malmö FF at Gamla Ullevi. The match was interrupted early due to crowd disturbances but resumed, ending level after goals from Anton Andreasson and Erik Botheim.
Örgryte IS, returning to the top flight after 16 years, earned a point against favorites Malmö FF in the opener at Gamla Ullevi in Gothenburg. Storm Dave brought strong winds, creating tough conditions that affected play. Despite SMHI warnings, the match drew 13,360 spectators, including over 4,500 Malmö fans.
The game was halted in the fifth minute due to crowd disturbances on the stands, leading to a stoppage of over 20 minutes. Players left the pitch after nine minutes but returned later. Örgryte took the lead early in the second half through Anton Andreasson following a corner and scramble in the box.
Malmö FF equalized in the 73rd minute as Erik Botheim tapped in a rebound. Örgryte came close to winning in stoppage time, but Robin Olsen made a key save. ”A point here is not bad, even though we go for the win”, said Örgryte's Mikael Dyrestam.
MFF's debutant Oscar Sjöstrand was dissatisfied: ”We expect to come here and take three points”. Robin Olsen praised the team's last 30 minutes but noted passivity in the first half. Both sides expressed frustration after the draw.
