Chile's Investigative Police (PDI) is probing the homicide of a woman that took place in the early hours of Saturday in the commune of Cartagena. The adult female victim was shot while traveling in a private vehicle with friends, sustaining a fatal cranial injury. She was rushed to the local Cesfam health center, where she succumbed to her wounds.
Comisario Pablo Alegría, head of the San Antonio Homicide Brigade of the PDI, provided details on the case. “By order of the Public Prosecutor's Office, detectives from the San Antonio Homicide Brigade are conducting the relevant investigative procedures regarding the homicide that occurred today in the early hours in the commune of Cartagena, where the victim, an adult female, was attacked by third parties with a firearm while traveling in a private vehicle with friends, suffering a cranial injury,” Alegría explained.
The woman was urgently transported to the Cartagena Family Health Center (Cesfam) but died due to the severity of her injuries. The brigade is on the ground performing examinations to clarify the sequence of events and identify those involved.
This incident adds to reports of violence in the region, though no further details on the attackers or motive have been disclosed. The PDI continues its inquiries under the oversight of the Public Prosecutor's Office.
