President Taye Atske Selassie held talks with Li Junhua, the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs, in Addis Ababa.
The two officials focused on strategies to accelerate implementation of the sustainable development goals and to tackle shared challenges together.
They also addressed the need to strengthen Africa's voice in shaping the global development agenda after 2030.
