RTI International issues call for audit proposals in Ethiopia

RTI International is seeking proposals from audit firms for a statutory audit of its Ethiopia projects covering the fiscal year from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026. The audit will assess compliance with Ethiopian regulations for operations under U.S.-funded initiatives focused on agriculture and poverty reduction. Interested firms must meet minimum experience criteria and submit proposals by March 31, 2026.

RTI International is an independent, nonprofit research institute focused on addressing global challenges through science-based solutions. Following the end of various USAID programs in Ethiopia, the organization will implement a U.S. Department of State-funded initiative in fiscal year 2026 known as the Feed the Future Ethiopia Transforming Agriculture (ETA) activity. This program aims to enhance access to healthy diets, particularly for women and children, by boosting the competitiveness, inclusiveness, and resilience of Ethiopia's food and agriculture systems.

In the same fiscal year, RTI will contribute to the Poverty Reduced Sustainably in an Environment of Resilient and Vibrant Economy (PReSERVE) activity, led by Food for the Hungry in the Amhara region. The initiative targets acute food insecurity in affected communities there. Additionally, RTI has started a five-year project funded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) called SunGold, which seeks to develop Ethiopia's sunflower sector. It will raise yields using U.S. seeds and equipment, train small- and large-scale farmers, and improve financial access through contract farming and new loan options.

To support these efforts, RTI International Ethiopia is inviting proposals from independent audit firms licensed by the Auditing and Accounting Board of Ethiopia (AABE). The statutory audit will cover financial statements for funds received and spent from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026, with potential extension for two more years. Its goal is to verify compliance with Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE) regulations and produce a consolidated report.

Eligible firms must be registered in Ethiopia, in good standing with AABE and regulators, have at least three years auditing INGOs, NGOs, or donor projects, including U.S. government ones, and deploy certified professionals. Proposals, including technical and financial components detailed in the request for proposals (RFP) at https://www.rti.org/current-opportunities, are due by March 31, 2026, at 5:00 PM East Africa Time via email to procurement.eta@rti.org. RTI reserves the right to accept, reject, or negotiate any submission.
