Salomon has introduced the X-Alp Alpine Echoes, a premium brown leather version of its trail sneaker. The model features a "Black/Earth Brown" colorway with leather and technical mesh uppers. It is priced at $230 and set to release on August 1.
The new sneaker retains practical hiking elements including a protective toe cap, grippy rubber soles and ample cushioning. It builds on prior X-Alp versions that appeared in full-suede and received collaborations from MM6 Maison Margiela and Carhartt WIP.
Salomon creative director Heikki Salonen has expressed reservations about the brand turning fashionable. The X-Alp Alpine Echoes nevertheless presents a dress-shoe aesthetic suited for everyday wear.
The shoes are scheduled to become available August 1 through Salomon's website.
