Sami Zayn will make his first defense of the Undisputed WWE Championship on the July 6 episode of Raw in Chicago. The match was set after Zayn defeated Cody Rhodes and GUNTHER in a triple threat at Night of Champions.
Zayn won the title this past Saturday in Riyadh. On the July 3 episode of SmackDown in Atlantic City, New Jersey, he opened the show with a promo thanking fans for their support.
Cody Rhodes joined Zayn in the ring to congratulate him. The segment was interrupted by Jey Uso, who was sent after the title by Roman Reigns. Acting SmackDown General Manager Adam Pearce then announced a number one contender's match between Rhodes and Uso.
Rhodes defeated Uso to earn the title shot against Zayn on Monday's Raw. Pearce confirmed the match during the broadcast from Boardwalk Hall.
