San Bernardo mayor reveals five death threats since 2021

Christopher White, mayor of San Bernardo, stated he has received five death threats since taking office in 2021, including a recent one linked to an operation against Colo Colo fans' murals.

In an interview with La Tercera's Desde la Redacción program on May 27, 2026, White detailed that the most recent threat came after he joined a municipal operation to erase murals at the local stadium.

The Socialist Party mayor explained that previous threats were tied to actions against street vending and operations targeting drug-related structures. He described daily social media messages referencing his family's and son's locations.

White said he has strengthened security with a personal escort and additional family surveillance. He attributed the issue to the Chilean State losing ground against organized crime over the past decade.
