The Warrior Chess Academy - International 2nd FIDE Rated Open Chess Tournament 2026 took place from February 25 to March 1, 2026, at the Hall of Chess in Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Organized by the Warrior Chess Academy, the 9-round Swiss System tournament used a time control of 90 minutes plus a 30-second increment from the first move. It attracted 203 rated players, including two International Masters and two Fide Masters, along with 68 unrated participants from four federations.
IM Saravana Krishnan P topped the standings with 7.5/9 points, securing first place via tie-breaks. Sharing the score were Vijay Shreeram P in second, IM Ramnathan Balasubramaniam in third, Sivan S Roshan in fourth, Mrityunjay Kumar in fifth, and Sidharth Mohan in sixth. The total prize fund reached ₹7,00,000, with the top three awards of ₹50,000, ₹40,000, and ₹30,000. Additional prizes included eight cycles, eight smartwatches, 23 chess clocks, and one smart TV.
Entering the final round, Vijay Shreeram P and Sivan S Roshan co-led alongside Kolla Bhavan. The leaders drew their game, while Krishnan defeated Kolla Bhavan to clinch the title. This victory is Krishnan's first tournament win of 2026 and follows his third-place finish earlier in the year at the Late Shri Vasudeva V. Dempo Memorial FIDE Rating Tournament 2026.
