A two-year-old boy disappeared on Sunday morning from a residence in Nyåker in Nordmaling municipality. A large search operation involving dogs, helicopters and drones is still ongoing through the night.
The boy was last seen at ten o'clock on Sunday morning at a farm where he was with relatives. He has short dark brown hair and was probably wearing an orange long-sleeved sweater, gray sweatpants and blue sneakers.
Police in Västerbotten have gradually scaled up the operation. In total around 70 people from the Swedish Armed Forces, including home guard and conscripts, are taking part alongside Missing People, rescue services and mountain rescuers. The search is being conducted both from the air and on foot in residential areas and forest terrain.
“We are searching with all available resources and hope to find the child as soon as possible,” says David Levy, press spokesperson for the police in Västerbotten.
There is no suspicion of crime and police are asking the public to report any observations. Over 200 volunteers have participated during the day and the search continues until the boy is found.
