Less than 24 hours after a cashier was shot dead in Sector 11, a youth named Tota was hacked to death by a group of assailants in Mauli Jagran on Sunday night. His friend Akash was seriously injured in the attack.
The victim, identified as Tota, was attacked with sharp-edged weapons in Vikas Nagar, Mauli Jagran. Police sources said 10 to 15 assailants surrounded the two youths before launching the assault. Tota suffered multiple injuries and was declared dead at the hospital, while Akash remains in serious condition.
A team from Mauli Jagran police station reached the spot and shifted the injured to hospital. The body was sent for post-mortem examination. A forensic team collected evidence at the scene, and police have begun examining CCTV footage to identify the attackers. The assailants fled and no arrests had been made by the time of reporting.
This incident follows the Saturday afternoon shooting of cashier Janki Das at Shri Kumar Chemist Shop in Sector 11. Two masked men fired 13 rounds from an automatic pistol before fleeing on a motorcycle with a third accomplice. Das’s family said he had no enemies. Police traced the suspects to Kajheri village via CCTV but have made no arrests in that case either.
