Former Democratic Action Party Kenya politician Seth Panyako has rejoined President William Ruto's United Democratic Alliance. He announced on Thursday that he will contest the Malava parliamentary seat on the UDA ticket in the 2027 General Election.
Panyako made the announcement in a social media post on Thursday July 17. He stated he will seek the Member of Parliament position for Malava Constituency under the UDA Party in the next general election.
He also dismissed reports that he planned to run for a Senate seat. Panyako described those claims as propaganda.
The move follows his resignation from UDA in May 2023. At that time he cited the government's failure to reduce the cost of living and its support for the Finance Bill 2023 and housing levy. He had joined the opposition DAP Kenya led by Eugene Wamalwa after leaving the ruling party.
Panyako lost the Malava by election in November 2025 to UDA candidate David Ndakwa. He received 20210 votes compared to Ndakwa's 21564 votes.
