Sigur Rós, the Icelandic post-rock band, have announced the concluding dates of their global tour, which pairs them with local orchestras. The run begins August 31 at the Playhouse in Edinburgh, Scotland, followed by September 2 at SEC Armadillo in Glasgow with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, September 4 at Waterfront Hall in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and two nights on September 6 and 7 at Bord Gáis Energy Theatre in Dublin, Ireland—the latter with the Ulster Orchestra. The itinerary continues with September 9 at Amphithéâtre 3000 in Lyon, France, alongside Orchestre de Chambre de Lyon; September 11 at Auditori Forum CCIB in Barcelona, Spain, with Orquestra Simfònica del Vallés; September 13 at Coliseu Porto Ageas in Porto, Portugal, with Orquestra Sinfonietta de Lisboa; September 15 at Palacio Euskalduna in Bilbao, Spain, with Bilbao Orkestra Sinfonikoa; September 17 at Sagres Campo Pequeno in Lisbon, Portugal, again with Orquestra Sinfonietta de Lisboa; and closes September 20 and 21 at Uber Eats Music Hall in Berlin, Germany—the final night featuring The Young ClassX. These performances mark the end of the band's orchestral collaborations with conductor Robert Ames and arranger María Huld Markan Sigfúsdóttir, drawing from their catalog including 2023's 'ÁTTA' album. Keyboardist Kjartan Sveinsson stated: “We’re excited to be going back to the orchestral shows in September. It is always very special to sit in the middle of an orchestra surrounded by all these fantastic players we have played with the past four years. Thanks to everyone that has come to our shows, all the players, the crew and a special thanks to our conductor and arranger Rob Ames and our main arranger María Huld Markan Sigfúsdóttir.” Prior legs included partnerships with ensembles like the London Contemporary Orchestra and venues such as London's Royal Albert Hall, where they debuted 'Ára bátur' live. Tickets enter general sale March 20 at 10am local time, with pre-sale details available online. The band also recently reissued their 2005 album 'Takk' for its 20th anniversary.
