Sony Pictures signs deal for Ramayana international distribution

Sony Pictures has signed on as international distributor for the two-part Indian epic Ramayana. The film is directed by Nitesh Tiwari and stars Ranbir Kapoor, Yash and Sai Pallavi.

Sony Pictures will handle distribution for all territories outside India. Indian distribution will be managed by Dharma Productions.

The story follows the exiled prince Rama and his wife Sita, whose abduction by the demon king Ravana leads to an epic war. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Rama, Yash as Ravana and Sai Pallavi as Sita.

Score duties will go to Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman. Action choreography is by Terry Notary and Guy Norris, with production design by Ramsey Avery and Ravi Bansal. Visual effects are being delivered by DNEG.

The film is due to release in November during the Diwali holiday frame. Prime Focus Studios produced the project.
