Soulwax has shared a documentary about their world-first five-hour rave at Abbey Road Studios. The event took place on February 21 for 300 selected fans, featuring the debut of their new track 'Perfect We Are Not'. The film and full set are available to watch online.
Soulwax, the Belgian brother duo known as the Dewaeles, hosted a unique 'After Hours' rave at London's Abbey Road Studios on February 21. The five-hour event in Studio One was open to 300 fans selected via an online ballot, marking the first time the iconic studio has held such a public gathering after hours. The day prior, in Studio Two, they recorded a new track titled 'Perfect We Are Not', cut it directly to vinyl, and debuted it as the opener for their 2manydjs set. This was also the debut of their DEEWEE Soundsystem, modelled after New York’s Paradise Garage. The documentary, 'Abbey Road After Hours', details the lead-up to the event and is available alongside the complete rave set. Ahead of the rave, the Dewaeles commented: “It’s hard to say whether we have a perverse or healthy attraction to crazy ideas, that’s for other people to decide, really. So to be approached with a crazy idea is one thing, but to be approached with a crazy idea by the most iconic recording studio in music history is even more attractive. We embrace and accept this challenge and also sincerely hope this won’t be the last rave at Abbey Road.” This follows their October release of 'All Systems Are Lying', their first album in over seven years, described as “a rock album made without any electric guitars” aiming to “capture the feeling of a band playing electronic instruments – live, loud and loose.” Supporting singles included double packs 'All Systems Are Lying'/'Run Free' and 'Gimme A Reason'/'Meanwhile On The Continent', plus 'New Earth Time'. They recently concluded a 2026 tour with shows at O2 Victoria Warehouse in Manchester and O2 Academy Brixton in London. In a 2022 interview as 2ManyDJs, they recalled David Bowie's fandom, noting he posted on their forum.
