Steelers preview McCormick, McRee and Metcalf for 2026 camp

The Pittsburgh Steelers will open their 2026 training camp in late July at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe. A new preview series highlights three players expected to compete for roster spots and starting roles.

Offseason practices ended in mid-June. The team now turns attention to camp preparations for offensive guard Mason McCormick, tight end Lake McRee and wide receiver DK Metcalf.

McCormick started every game at right guard in 2025 and played every offensive snap. His Pro Football Focus grade rose to 71.1 after a 57.7 mark as a rookie. He is widely expected to move to left guard this season alongside tackle Troy Fautanu.

McRee joined the Steelers as an undrafted free agent from USC. He recorded 97 receptions for 1,154 yards and seven touchdowns over five college seasons. Depth at tight end makes his path to the 53-man roster challenging, though he may target the practice squad.

Metcalf arrived via trade in March 2025 and signed a four-year extension. He posted 59 catches for 850 yards and six touchdowns in 15 games last season. New head coach Mike McCarthy and added receivers are expected to increase his targets in 2026.
