VfB Stuttgart celebrated a convincing 4:0 win (2:0) over Go Ahead Eagles from Deventer on the fifth matchday of the Europa League. German international Jamie Leweling scored both goals in the first half (20th and 35th minutes), putting Stuttgart ahead early. Bilal El Khannouss struck in the 59th minute, with Badredine Bouanani sealing it in stoppage time (90.+3). After five games, Stuttgart has nine points and is unbeaten in four matches across competitions. "Delivering such a performance today is very good," Leweling said on RTL. Deniz Undav added: "We didn't let anything burn here and finished the game quickly." This marked Stuttgart's first international away victory of the season.
In the parallel match, SC Freiburg and Viktoria Pilsen finished 0:0 (0:0). Freiburg missed the chance to top the table but stayed unbeaten this season. The Czech champions Pilsen still hope for direct qualification to the round of 16. Captain Christian Günter called the result a "fair draw" on RTL. He continued: "Both teams had their chances. It was the expected, tough game." Günter viewed direct entry to the round of 16 as the maximum success for Freiburg.
Freiburg controlled the game from the start but created few opportunities. Both sides avoided errors initially. Late in the first half, Pilsen pushed: Keeper Noah Atubolu saved shots from Cheick Souaré (36th) and Prince Adu (43rd). Rafiu Durosinmi's goal was disallowed for offside (38th). In the second half, Amar Memic missed a chance (61st), while goalkeeper Florian Wiegele deflected Johan Manzambi's shot onto the post (74th).
