Super Typhoon Inday entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility early Wednesday, July 8, 2026. It brought strong winds and rain to parts of the country through an enhanced southwest monsoon.

According to PAGASA, the center of Inday was 1,405 kilometers east of Northern Luzon at 4 a.m. on July 8. It had maximum sustained winds of 185 km/h and gusts up to 230 km/h while moving west at 25 km/h.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 was raised over Batanes, Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, northern and central Isabela, Apayao, eastern Kalinga, northern Aurora, and northern and central Catanduanes. The enhanced southwest monsoon is expected to bring strong to gale-force winds across most of the country from Thursday to Friday.

Inday is not expected to make landfall in the Philippines. It may pass closest to extreme Northern Luzon on Friday before heading toward the southern islands of Japan and waters north of Taiwan. It is forecast to exit the PAR on Saturday and weaken to typhoon strength by Thursday afternoon or evening.

Classes were suspended in parts of Metro Manila and Canlaon City on July 8 due to heavy rain. The MMDA reported below to gutter-deep flooding in some areas of Navotas and Malabon.
