Sweden reached the final by eliminating France and Denmark. The team had also defeated Hungary 40–24 in the main round.
In the final Sweden led 28–27 with 30 seconds remaining in regular time. Hungary equalized and the match went to extra time.
Hungary won 34–32. Måns Fredriksson was the top Swedish scorer with nine goals. Sweden has previously taken silver in 2006 and 2014.
