Alejandro Tabilo beat Marton Fucsovics 6-4, 6-3 in his main draw debut at the Montecarlo Masters 1000. Christian Garin advanced from qualifiers by defeating Nikoloz Basilashvili 7-5, 6-0, returning to the main draw for the first time since 2021. Both Chileans progress in the Monaco clay event.
Alejandro Tabilo, ranked 39th in ATP, defeated Hungarian Marton Fucsovics, 51st, 6-4, 6-3 in 1 hour and 22 minutes on Court des Princes at the Monte-Carlo Country Club. The Chilean broke in the last game of the first set and again in the fourth of the second, prevailing solidly despite the European's prior win over him in Bucharest 2024.
Christian Garin, 100th ATP, secured his main draw spot with a decisive win over Georgian Nikoloz Basilashvili, 129th and former top 20, 7-5, 6-0 in 1 hour and 21 minutes on court 9. Garin came back from 3-5 in the first set, saved three set points, and broke twice in a row; in the second, he broke early and added two more without double faults.
Garin returns to Montecarlo's main draw since 2021, when he reached the round of 16 before losing to Stefanos Tsitsipas, 49th. On Monday April 6, he faces Matteo Arnaldi, 107th, while Tabilo plays the winner of Jiri Lehecka, 14th, and Emilio Nava, 104th.
