The Texas Stars have signed forward Mike Sgarbossa to a one-year contract in the American Hockey League for the 2026-27 season.
Sgarbossa returns to the AHL after playing the 2025-26 season in Switzerland with HC Lugano and SC Bern. He previously spent seven seasons in the Washington Capitals organization, where he won a Calder Cup championship with the Hershey Bears in 2023.
Over 609 AHL games with teams including Hershey, Manitoba, Springfield, San Diego, Norfolk and Lake Erie, Sgarbossa has recorded 165 goals and 302 assists for 467 points. He was named an AHL All-Star as a rookie in 2013 and set career highs with 30 goals and 65 points in 2018-19.
In the NHL, the 14-year pro has appeared in 93 games with Washington, Florida, Anaheim and Colorado, tallying nine goals and 16 assists.
