Tijjani Reijnders reveals PSSI once approached him for Indonesia national team naturalization

Manchester City midfielder Tijjani Reijnders has revealed that PSSI once contacted him about joining the Indonesia national team through naturalization.

Reijnders, who has now collected dozens of caps with the Netherlands national team, said the approach occurred while he was still playing for AC Milan. He admitted he had considered the offer if his path to the Dutch team had not opened.

In an interview with Helden Magazine, Reijnders described his surprise when his Instagram account was suddenly flooded by Indonesian fans. “I still remember very well when I was first linked with Indonesia,” he said.

His younger brother Eliano Reijnders eventually chose to represent the Indonesia national team. Reijnders stressed his priority remained with the Netherlands.
