US ride-hailing company Uber plans to submit a takeover bid worth around 12.5 billion euros for Berlin-based food delivery service Delivery Hero on Thursday.
According to a Wednesday report by the Financial Times, Uber is offering Delivery Hero shareholders 41 euros per share. Delivery Hero shares dropped 2.3 percent to 38.18 euros in Xetra trading.
To avoid overlaps with its own subsidiary Uber Eats, Uber plans to sell the Turkish unit Yemeksepeti and other delivery services in European countries to an investor. Delivery Hero confirmed advanced talks with Uber on Tuesday but did not name a price.
Bloomberg had previously reported that the offer would be significantly above 36 euros per share. Uber Eats and Delivery Hero compete in Poland, Portugal, Spain and Sweden.
