Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ mega plantation campaign at Kukrail on June 5, 2026, to mark World Environment Day.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched the campaign on Friday, June 5, 2026. He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had dedicated the theme to mothers because every citizen has a responsibility towards their mother and motherland. Mr. Adityanath urged people to plant a tree in their mother’s name and to develop forests in urban and rural areas. He noted that the world faces serious environmental concerns, including changes in weather patterns that have led to excessive rainfall and droughts. The Chief Minister called for avoiding single-use plastic and not throwing plastic waste in public places or natural spaces. He said more than 2.42 billion saplings have been planted in Uttar Pradesh over the past nine years.
