Vachier-Lagrave and Le qualify for Esports Nations Cup

Several prominent chess players have secured spots in the finals of the inaugural Esports Nations Cup. The event is scheduled for Riyadh in November. Regional qualifiers concluded earlier this month.

The Esports Nations Cup will take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from November 2 to 29. Players will represent their countries and territories in the competition across multiple esports titles.

Qualifiers ran from June 6 to 14. Participants competed in Swiss-system rapid tournaments and knockout brackets. A maximum of two players per country could advance.

Qualified players include GM Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, GM Liem Le and GM Volodar Murzin. Other qualifiers feature GM Christopher Yoo and IM Roberto Molina.

A total of 61 players advanced through qualifiers. They will join three wildcards and 64 invited or previously qualified competitors.
