The Chicago White Sox defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 3-0 on Sunday at Rate Field to complete a three-game sweep, their first such home sweep of Toronto since Sept. 3, 1995. Chicago starter Davis Martin improved to 2-0 with six scoreless innings, striking out six, walking two and allowing four hits. It marked the White Sox's first quality start of the 2026 season. Relievers Bryan Hudson, Jordan Leasure and Chris Murphy finished the shutout, with Murphy earning his first save despite closer Seranthony Domínguez being unavailable. The White Sox tallied all three runs with two outs: Miguel Vargas tripled in the first to score Chase Meidroth, Lenyn Sosa doubled in the third and Austin Hays singled in the fourth. Manager Will Venable praised the two-out production and home crowd support. “To have our fans, with the way they came out and supported us, to have that energy means a lot,” Venable said. “It’s huge... Just continue to battle, and good things can happen even with two outs.” Tanner Murray made a standout defensive play in the third inning with the bases loaded, snagging a grounder and throwing out Addison Barger at first in his Major League debut. Murray, called up from Triple-A Charlotte to replace injured Everson Pereira, went 0-for-2 at the plate. “Fun, great atmosphere,” Murray said after the game. “Fans were awesome. Got the win. Got to participate, and it was awesome.” The sweep caps a strong homestand after a rough road start, with the White Sox holding Toronto to a .188 average over the series. Davis Martin noted the team's resilience: “We all came together as a group... Winning the series was going to be great, but a sweep is even better.”
