Chinese President Xi Jinping has appointed Zhang Shuguang as the new head of the military’s anti-corruption body. Zhang was promoted to the rank of full general and will lead the PLA’s top graft-busting commission.
State broadcaster CCTV reported that Wang Gang was also promoted to the rank of full general and would take over as head of the PLA Air Force. Two other former CMC members, Liu Zhenli and Miao Hua, are also under investigation.
This leaves Xi and Zhang Shengmin as the only remaining members of the commission, whose current five-year term began in 2022.
The appointments come amid changes to the Central Military Commission.
