A yellow level 2 warning highlights severe storms, particularly over southwestern parts, where a 60% chance of showers and thunderstorms is anticipated.
Forecaster Lehlohonolo Thabela warned: “If you will be over the southwestern parts of Gauteng, expect a 60% chance of showers and thunderstorms, including the western parts of Johannesburg. A yellow level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms has been issued by the South African Weather Service. These conditions are expected to result in heavy downpours that may lead to localised flooding over most western areas of Johannesburg and extending into other parts of the province, including areas such as Soweto.”
