YouTube announced changes to make labels on AI-generated videos more prominent and will begin automatically detecting such content. The updates apply to photorealistic videos and will roll out starting this month.
YouTube is updating its approach to labeling AI-generated videos with more visible indicators and automatic detection tools. The platform began requiring creator disclosures two years ago but is now adding its own detection for significant photorealistic AI use. Labels will appear below the video player on long-form content and as an overlay on Shorts videos. A small ellipse marked with “AI” will indicate the content origin in a glanceable way.
