Public broadcaster ZDF must issue a cease-and-desist declaration to Elon Musk and loses a court case against Arne Schönbohm.
In a TV report on riots in Northern Ireland, ZDF had claimed that Elon Musk had called for manhunts and civil war. ZDF now described the wording as imprecise and misleading and signed the undertaking.
In a separate case, a court prohibited ZDF from statements made by Jan Böhmermann in October 2022 about former official Arne Schönbohm. The court found that these were false claims.
Both rulings were issued on June 16, 2026. ZDF responded to the developments with a statement from its lawyer.
